Call for Papers
The increasing age of our infrastructure, climate change and impacts
caused by accidents or storms influence stability and safety. Especially
for critical structures like big buildings, bridges, industrial plants
and so on assuring safety is very important. Therefore risk assessment
and lifetime management are gaining in importance. This field of research is called "Structural Health Monitoring". Especially for
permanently monitored structures there is a strong effort to integrate
an alert system (Decision Support System) which should help humans to
decide if the state of a building became critical and to react to the
situation immediately. Taking this decision is a non-trivial process
because numerous aspects influence a structure's state. Today computer
systems are frequently used for solving "real-world problems". These
systems collect, store and retrieve data, display and present
information and above all to help humans in understanding complex
situations.
The aim of this workshop is to discuss and exchange the ideas related to
decision support in Structural Health Monitoring. We invite papers from
researchers and practitioners working in the field of decision support
or structural health monitoring and related areas to submit their
original papers to this workshop. The main topics, but not limited to,
include:
• Sensor Data Analysis
• Structural Health Monitoring Systems
• Knowledge Management in Structural Health Monitoring
• Real-World Decision Support Systems
• Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Systems
• Human-Computer Interaction in Decision Support
Important Dates:
Submission of papers: 30 March 2007
Notification of acceptance: 30 April 2007
Camera-ready copies: 20 May 2007
Submission Details:
Authors are invited to submit research contributions or practical
experience reports in English. Papers should be single-spaced, no longer
than 4000 words or 5 pages, and should follow IEEE instructions:
http://computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm. Only electronic submissions
will be accepted. Authors are required to submit papers via email to
dsshm@dexa.org.
The accepted papers for DSSHM 2007 will be published with IEEE CS Press
in the workshop proceedings of DEXA 2007. Inclusion of a paper in the
proceedings is contingent on one of the authors registering and
presenting at the conference.
Workshop Chairs:
Josef Kueng, University of Linz, Austria
Helmut Wenzel, Vienna Consulting Engineers, Austria
More information on the workshop and the DEXA conference clusters will
