OVERVIEW
The Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering - SBES (in Portuguese:
Simposio Brasileiro de Engenharia de Software) is an event that gathers
researchers, students and practitioners, from Brazil and abroad. SBES is
the official event of the computer_society/" class="i-link">Brazilian Computer Society (in Portuguese: SBC
- Sociedade Brasileira de Computacao) in the field. It is the highest ranking conference in software engineering in Brazil.
Previous editions of the SBES were highlighted by the presentation of
high quality technical papers and invited talks by distinguished
speakers of the international software engineering community. As in the
last several years, SBES 2007 will be held together with the Brazilian
Symposium on Database (SBBD - Simposio Brasileiro de Bancos de Dados).
SBES 2007 will take place in Joao Pessoa, PB, one of the most beautiful
capital of the northeast of Brazil. See
http://www.sbbd-sbes2007.ufpb.br/ for more information.
The SBES 2007 program will include: the presentation of technical
papers,
invited talks, invited mini-tutorials, selected tutorials, workshops,
mini-courses for professional updating, and a number of satellite
events.
SATELLITE EVENTS
- 13th WTES - Workshop of Thesis on Software Engineering (WTES) Chair: Thais Vasconcelos Batista, DIMAP/UFRN/BR
- Tools Session Chair: Auri Vincenzi, UNISANTOS/SP/BR
- Tutorials Chair: Manoel Mendonca, UNIFACS/BA/BR
- Selected Workshops: Chair: Marco Antonio Casanova, DI/PUC-RJ/RJ
The Call for Papers for each of these satellite events will be published
in a near future by the corresponding chair.

papers on a range of topics related to innovation and consolidation of
software engineering. These subjects include:
. Agent-oriented development
. Aspect-oriented development
. Autonomic systems
. Component-based software engineering
. Computer supported cooperative software engineering
. Distributed, Web-Based, and Internet-Scale software engineering
. Empirical software engineering and metrics
. Generative or transformation-based software development
. Knowledge-based software engineering
. Model driven development
. Multimedia and hypermedia software engineering
. Ontology applied to software engineering
. Software architecture, design and frameworks
. Social and ethical aspects of software engineering
. Software requirements engineering
. Software engineering for embedded and real-time Software
. Software engineering tools and environments
. Software safety, dependability, and reliability
. Software project management

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Papers must be submitted electronically to the following address:
https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/sbes2007
Papers must be no longer than 16 A4 pages (single column), including all
the figures, references, and appendices. Submitted papers can be written
in Portuguese or English, though English is the preferred idiom. All
submissions must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Please
follow the guidelines established by the computer_society/" class="i-link">Brazilian Computer Society
(SBC) available at:
URL: www.sbc.org.br
tag: "Eventos"
sub-window (on the left hand side): "Arquivos"
item: "Modelo para publicacao de artigos" (instructions are in
English)
Papers submitted to SBES must not have been simultaneously submitted to
any other forum (conference, book or journal), nor should they have
already been published elsewhere.
The submitted papers will be analyzed by at least 3 referees based on
originality, relevance, technical soundness and presentation.
Theoretical and experimental papers should emphasize their contribution
to software engineering. SBES is a very competitive forum which has
acceptance rate around 15%. We recommend the community to submit papers
which are complete. They should present proposals, their context and
evaluation. Practical experiments should describe the method used and
interpret their qualitative and quantitative results. Papers involving
techniques, models, processes and similar, should contain an assessment
of the effectiveness of the proposal, as well as a discussion about the
advantages relative to already published techniques.
The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will
register for the symposium to present it.
BEST PAPER AWARD
The best paper award will be given to one of 5 (five) papers selected by
the Steering Committee.
