The Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering - SBES (in Portuguese:
Simp=F3sio Brasileiro de Engenharia de Software) is an event that =
gathers
researchers, students and practitioners, from Brazil and abroad. SBES is
the official event of the computer_society/" class="i-link">Brazilian Computer Society (in Portuguese: SBC

  • Sociedade Brasileira de Computa=E7=E3o) in this field and includes presentation of technical papers, invited speakers, tutorials, workshops, mini-courses and a Thesis Consortium. Previous editions of the SBES were highlighted by the presentation of high quality technical papers and included invited talks by distinguished speakers of the international software engineering community.

In 2005, SBES will take place in Florian=F3polis, SC, and will last for five
days long.

ABOUT FLORIAN=D3POLIS

Located on the island of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, the capital of the
State of Santa Catarina is one of the most beautiful cities in the country.
It features a wonderful landscape, forty-two astonishing beaches, two
magnificent lagoons, and a very good infrastructure. It offers a high standard
of life quality. The climate is very pleasant, with october average medium
temperatures of 21=BAC.

The major economical activities of this island that is the house for
approximately 260 thousand inhabitants are the tourism, commerce, services and
transformation industry. It is noticeable the recent creation of a
Technology center (Tecn=F3polis), which concentrates important companies that
have a significant share of the software production in Brazil.

Florianopolis contains an international airport and is linked to several
countries and the Mercosul through daily flights. It is linked by road
to Curitiba (300km), Porto Alegre (476km), and S=E3o Paulo (705km).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Papers must be no longer than 16 A4 pages (single column), including all
the figures and references. Submitted papers can be written in Portuguese
or English, though English being the preferred idiom. All submissions
must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Please follow the guidelines
established by the computer_society/" class="i-link">Brazilian Computer Society:
    URL: www.sbc.org.br
    tag: "Eventos"
sub-window (on the left hand side): "Arquivos"
item: "Template para publica=E7=E3o de artigos" (instructions are =
in English)

Papers submitted to SBES must not have been simultaneously submitted to
any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been
published elsewhere. The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one
of its authors will register for the symposium to present it.

Submitted papers will be reviewed based on originality, relevance,
technical soundness and presentation. Theoretical papers should emphasize
their contribution to the practice of Software Engineering. Papers about
practical experiments should describe the method used and interpret their
qualitative and quantitative results. Papers involving techniques, models,
processes and similar, should contain an assessment of the effectiveness
of the proposal, as well as a discussion about the advantages relative to
already published techniques.

Papers must be submitted electronically using the Web page at the
following address:
