Call for Participation - Dublin Core 2008
Early Bird Registration extended!
"Early bird" registration for the 8th International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications - to be held from 22 trough 26 September 2008 in Berlin - has been extended for two weeks. Participants are invited to register online at the conference Web site and book accommodation for their stay in Berlin. Register by 15 August to receive the early bird discount.
This year's conference will focus on metadata for social and semantic applications. The main conference is taking place from Tuesday through Thursday, 23 to 25 September. Plenary presentations, poster sessions, and public working-group meetings will be held on topics such as
- Toward the Semantic Web
- Wikis and Metadata
- Tagging and Metadata for Social Networking
- Semantic Integration, Linking, and KOS Methods
- Metadata Generation: Methods, Profiles, and Models
- Vocabulary Integration and Interoperability
- Metadata Quality
- Metadata Scheme Design, Application, and Use
- Resource Description and Access (RDA)
Related events include tutorials on Monday, 22 September, introducing Dublin Core standards, concepts, history, and implementation issues. In parallel, student-to-student tutorials in German language will be held under the auspices of FH Potsdam. Following the conference on Friday, 26 September, four seminars on metadata topics will be held:
- User Generated Metadata (organised by Wikimedia)
- Using the TEI for Documenting Describing Documents
- PREMIS Metadata
- Ontology Design and Interoperability
