IEEE AMIGE 2008 Last Call for Paper

Call for Papers

IEEE Symposium on Advanced Management of Information for Globalized
Enterprises (AMIGE'08), September 28-29, 2008, Tianjin, China
http://amige2008.ecom.arizona.edu

Co-organized by IEEE Congress on Services and China Association of
Information Systems

The Inaugural IEEE Symposium on Advanced Management of Information for
Globalized Enterprises (AMIGE'08) will be held on September 28-29, 2008 in
Tianjin, China. AMIGE'08 is part of the IEEE Congress on Services and
co-organized by China Association of Information Systems. The objective
of this conference is to gather leading scholars in the interdisciplinary
study of globalized information management, such as global supply chain
management, global electronic business, global digital government, global
technology transfer, global information integration, distributed
collaboration and communication, global workflow automation, and global IT
governance, to share research findings and promote new ideas. This
conference is uniquely positioned to address those emerging research
issues because:
• Globalized information management is multidisciplinary as the
aforementioned research issues span such fields as computer science,
industrial engineering, information systems, management science and
engineering, and operational management as illustrated by the
multidisciplinary composition of its program committee.
• It emphasizes both theoretical studies and practical issues; as such,
the conference is expected to draw participation from both academic and
industrial researchers.
• The suggested research topics of this conference cover a variety of
topics in various disciplines aforementioned.

We invite submissions of original research papers addressing issues
concerning the theory, design, development, evaluation, and application of
information systems and management as related to enterprise globalization.
To promote original research, we encourage submissions of
research-in-progress that are innovative and thought-provoking as opposed
to repackaging of existing research. Research articles that are driven by
business problems and validated with proper research methodologies are
particularly sought. Research topics include, but are not limited to:
• Advanced globalized IT applications (e.g., CRM, ERP, and SCM)
• Advanced technologies and methodologies of globalized software development
Data quality and provenance issues and techniques
• Economic issues of globalization and localization
E-business process and knowledge management
• Global collaboration and communication
Global information system integration and interaction
• Global knowledge management
• Global workflow technologies and applications
• Globalized supply chain management
• Information and product lifecycle management
• Information economics in a multinational environment
• Intelligent and secure information systems
• IT governance and compliance across national boundaries
• Outsourcing and offshoring issues and strategies
Privacy, assurance and trust in a global environment
Service-oriented enterprises and architectures around the globe
Service computing and service management
• Social computing in a multi-language and multi-cultural environment
• Transformation of enterprise information systems under SOA
• Technologies and systems of e-government in support of globalization
• Technologies and systems of worldwide e-business
Technology transfer and adoption cross national boundaries

The conference will organize the following tracks on important themes
surrounding global information management issues. The detailed information
of those tracks is available at
http://amige2008.ecom.arizona.edu/tracks.htm.

Track 1: Business Process Management in a Globally Integrated Enterprise
Track 2: Data Mining in Business
Track 3: Dependable Service-Centric Systems
Track 4: e-Business and e-Commerce: Managerial Issues, Applications and
Technology
Track 5: Emerging E-business and Management Innovation
Track 6: Knowledge Management in Global Enterprises
Track 7: Main Memory-Based Applications for Global Enterprises
Track 8: Service-Oriented Enterprise Applications
Track 9: Workflow Technologies
Track 10: Information Search and Management in Global Economies
Track 11: Global Services: Computing, Management, and Strategies

Extensions of selected best papers from the conference will be recommended
for a fast-track review in special issues for Journal of Database
Management (SCI-E and SSCI), Journal of Global Information Management
(SSCI), and Information Systems Frontiers (SCI-E).

Submission Instructions
The conference proceedings of AMIGE 2008 will be published by IEEE
Publishing and accessible through IEEE digital library. All submissions
must be in English, and the file must be submitted in Microsoft Word
(.DOC) or PDF via the conference system at
http://amige2008.ecom.arizona.edu. Length of submissions, including
tables, figures, and references, is limited to 5 pages in IEEE format.
Detailed submission instructions and a sample PDF file can be found at the
conference website
(http://amige2008.ecom.arizona.edu/author_guidelines.htm). Violation of
the required format will result in rejection of the submission without
review.
Authors who have no established record in publishing in English are
strongly encouraged to seek editing help from professional English editors
or native English speakers. It would be unfortunate if a paper will be
rejected mainly due to language problems. However, to select high quality
papers for publication at the conference, we will have to uphold high
standard in the quality of presentation and language.

All submissions will be reviewed double blind. Selection for presentation
at the conference will be based on originality, contribution to the field,
and conference interest. An important criterion in evaluating the
submission is the preference for a problem-driven approach, i.e., papers
that focus on pure technical issues but are not clearly relevant to
solving business problems are less likely to be accepted. Extended
abstracts of presentations will be published at the conference website.
The AMIGE'08 proceedings will be published after the conference by
including only those papers presented at the conference. Papers not
presented at the conference will not be included in the conference
proceedings. We will make all papers available to conference attendees by
providing an online repository and distribute hardcopies of papers at the
conference. The proceedings will be published by IEEE Publishing after the
conference and distributed to all conference attendees via the Internet.

AMIGE'08 will also provide an opportunity of virtual presentation at the
conference. The goal is to attract prominent researchers outside China
who want to contribute to the conference but could not travel to the
conference due to time and budget constraints. Specific instructions on
how to submit a paper for virtual presentation will be given at the
conference website.
