SCOPE:
The LSO workshop series is designed as a communication forum that
addresses the questions of organizational learning from a software
point of view. It builds upon existing work on knowledge management
and organizational learning as well as newer developments such as Web
2.0 or Enterprise 2.0. It brings together practitioners and
researchers for an open exchange of experience with successes and
failures in organizational learning and provides an opportunity to
learn about new ideas. Fostering interdisciplinary approaches is one
key concern of this workshop series.
TOPICS OF INTEREST:
The goal of the workshop is to discuss all aspects of learning
organizations and knowledge management solutions in the Software
Engineering domain. The workshop aims at the discussion of existing
applications in practice, the examination of problems and limitations
experienced in practice, and the search for innovative approaches to
overcome problems, improve existing approaches and enable the
wide-spread establishment of learning organizations in
practice. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Examples of learning organizations and knowledge management solutions
- Experience reports on what worked and what did not work in practice
- Knowledge generation and acquisition in software organizations
- Knowledge representation and storage in software organizations
- Knowledge distribution in software organizations
- Tacit knowledge capture and dissemination
- Continuous improvement of knowledge management and LSO activities
- Establishment of learning organizations in practice
- Evaluation techniques for knowledge management and LSO activities
- Learning software organizations and software process improvement
- Web 2.0/Enterprise 2.0 approaches for software organizations
- Web-based collaborative learning in software organizations
- Lightweight knowledge management approaches
- Learning approaches for open source software development projects
- Technical support
The workshop addresses researchers and/or practitioners who are
concerned with knowledge management, organizational learning, or
experience handling in the software business in order to enable an
open discussion of ongoing activities regarding the establishment of
learning organizations in software industries.
PAPER SUBMISSION:
LSO 2008 seeks original submissions in the form of research papers,
and experience reports (max. 15 pages). Practitioners are encouraged
to submit papers on successful as well as unsuccessful
projects. Researchers are asked to submit papers of innovative
approaches on learning organizations and knowledge management
solutions. Submissions must adhere to Springer Lecture Notes on
Computer Science format. Workshop language is English. At least one
author must register to the workshop before the deadline for
camera-ready copies. The publication of the proceedings is currently
under negotiation with Springer.
