Advances in Ubiquitous Computing Systems (AUCS) Workshop: Call for papers
Advances in Ubiquitous Computing Systems (AUCS)
Summary
This workshop will bring together researchers and industry participants who are involved with the design, development, and implementation of novel applications and frameworks in the domain of Ubiquitous Computing.
Ubiquitous Computing is an exciting and booming research field which encompasses a wide range of research topics from Distributed Computing to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Ubiquitous computing is a result of tremendous advances of a wide range of technologies including wireless and sensor networks, mobile and distributed computing, and agent technologies. AUCS 2008 will provide a high profile, leading edge forum for researchers and engineers alike to present state-of-the-art research in the field of Ubiquitous Computing and communications.
We welcome original, high-quality research contributions that advance the state of the art in the design, development, deployment, evaluation and understanding of ubiquitous computing systems.
Format and Duration
The workshop will be one day and participants will present their papers during that day. At the end of the workshop a panel session will be held to sum up the major findings and contributions of the workshop.
Topics of interest include but not limited to:
• Mobile/Wireless computing systems and services
• Context aware computing
• Challenges in Heterogeneous computing
• Positioning and tracking technologies
• Sensor networks and Location-Based Computing
• Human computer interaction (HCI) in Ubiquitous Computing Systems
• Privacy concerns in Ubiquitous Computing Systems
• Smart devices and intelligent environments
• Programming paradigms for ubiquitous systems
• Design principles of UbiComp Systems
• Ubiquitous Computing in Healthcare
• Legal and ethical issues in Ubiquitous Computing
Important Dates
Paper submission deadline: 01 July 2008
Notification of Paper acceptance: 15 August 2008
Camera-ready paper submission: 15 September 2008
Submission details
We encourage submissions from researchers and practitioners from academia and industry. All are invited to submit papers limited to 8 pages in IEEE format, describing original work or a position paper. Participants will be selected based on their submissions; a selection of papers will be presented at the workshop. Proceedings of all I-Society 2008 workshops are to be published as a single volume of IEEE to be distributed at the I-Society 2008 conference.
Authors can submit their papers by e-mail to fred.mtenzi@comp.dit.ie
Authors of accepted papers will be expected to present their work at the workshop. All attendees must register for the I-Society 2008 conference.
