Recent advances in information technologies have increased the production, collection, and diffusion of geographical data, thus favoring the design and development of geographic information systems (GIS). Nowadays GISs are emerging as a common information infrastructure, which penetrate into more and more aspects of our society. This has given rise to new methodological and data engineering challenges in order to accommodate new users' requirements for new applications. Conceptual and semantic modelings are ideal candidates to contribute to the development of the next generation of GIS solutions. They allow to elicit and capture user requirements as well as the semantics of a wide domain of applications.

SeCoGIS is intended to bring together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners carrying out research and development in geographic information systems. The aim is to stimulate discussions on the integration of conceptual modeling and semantics into current geographic information systems, and how this will benefit the end users. The workshop will provide a forum for original research contributions and practical experiences of conceptual modeling and semantic web technologies for GIS, fostering interdisciplinary discussions in all aspects of these two fields, and will highlight future trends in this area. The workshop will be organized in a way to highly stimulate interaction amongst the participants.

AIMS, SCOPE AND TOPICS

In our society which has already turned to a service providing society, the technical aspects as well as the human, social and economic aspects must be considered together. This has already resulted in considerable research on these aspects that are related to disciplines like Information Systems, Software Engineering and Service Science, as for example, how empirical research should be conducted, what are the conditions for "valid" knowledge, and which the scope of theories in these fields are. These are elements that are of interest from perspectives as diverse as philosophy, engineering and technology.
For example, the material and temporal entities that are dealt with in the field are a matter of ontology, and the conditions for credibility of statements and research methods are a matter of epistemology. Hence the relationship and influences between software, information systems and service science will be studied from an ontological view point, but with a broad perspective under which researchers with different background can meet and truly multi-disciplinary issues can arise.

As in the previous editions the main goal of this event is to allow challenging and promising cross-fertilization over multidisciplinary research areas to be tackled and investigated by all the participants. The design of systems in which parts have complex interactions, more and more the understanding of theoretical, epistemological and conceptual frameworks coming from the human and social sciences.

Introduction
The vast majority of enterprise information systems (IS) were implemented in the early days of computing by using the traditional paradigms and implemented with a structured computer languages such as COBOL. However, with recent developments, particularly the trends towards e-Commerce, ERP, Customer Relationship Management and Supply chain management, many companies are realizing that they will have to migrate to the new systems to take advantages of these new challenges.
Although the management makes strategic decisions to implement the new systems, such projects often fail for several reasons: the new systems are quite expensive, involve a radical or unwanted changes to existing processes, and often cumbersome to implement. In fact, it is possible to perform reengineering of legacy systems and internal processes to reap up the same benefits of new systems in a cost effective manner.

Objective of the Book
The main objective of the book will be to cover different techniques that could be used in industry in order to reengineer internal processes and the legacy systems into more flexible systems capable of supporting modern trends such as ERP, Supply chain management systems and E-commerce.

IEEE/ACM Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICTD2010),

Dec 13-16 2010, at the UNESCO Chair/Centre in ICT4D at Royal Holloway, University of London

The conference is the latest in the series of highly successful international ICTD conferences held in Doha <https://owa.rhul.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.ictd2009.org/> (2009), Bangalore <https://owa.rhul.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/india/events/ictd2007/> (2007) and Berkeley <https://owa.rhul.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.ischool.berkeley.edu/ictd2006/> (2006) and the first time ICTD is held in Europe. It aims to provide a global and multidisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and all those with interests in the use of information and communication technologies in development practice to meet to discuss the latest research advances in the field.

Building on the success of its predecessors, ICTD2010 will combine two days of plenary peer-reviewed paper sessions <https://owa.rhul.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.ictd2010.org/?page_id"> , with two days of workshops, panel sessions, discussion forums and <https://owa.rhul.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.ictd2010.org/?page_id=118> demos. The conference language is English, with additional sessions in both Spanish and French. A particular feature will be the opportunity that it will provide for participatory involvement from people from a diversity of backgrounds, both offline and online. Conference Chair is Prof Tim Unwin and keynote speakers include Sir Tim Berners-Lee, credited with inventing the World Wide Web.

Workshop Topic and Goals

On behalf of the 2010 Workshop on Collaborative Methods for Security and Privacy (CollSec '10) program committee, we'd like to invite you to submit papers that present innovative approaches that involve the use of collaborative methods for privacy and security.

The complexity and sophistication of security threats are expected to increase further in the near future. Existing security solutions might soon become useless in the face of attacks that will most likely be launched from many computers at once (for example, the use of large botnets). An appropriate answer to such threats should rely on collaborative methods that harness the collective strength of many independent units. When it comes to defending against a given threat, different end-units as well as entire networks are essentially performing the same work redundantly. As a result, the need to share knowledge (for accelerating detection and response to new attacks and threats) and resources (increasing efficiency and reducing resources consumption) becomes clear.

While the workshop will touch on themes that are at the heart of the USENIX Security Symposium, discussion will focus on the boundary between collaborative algorithms and swarm intelligence and the implementation domains of networking, privacy, and security.

Proposed topics for the workshop include but are not limited to the following:

- Collaborative detection of distributed network attacks
- Peer-to-peer-based security mechanisms

WORKSHOP SUMMARY AND GOALS

The fundamental premise of product line engineering (PLE) is that the investment in a family of products pays off later by allowing systematic, efficient derivation of products. This should be automated as much as possible, which can be achieved via model-driven engineering (MDE) techniques.

Research in PLE and MDE has many intersections. PLE leverages MDE to specify variability, domain concepts, configurations and more. (Semi-) automated product derivation requires mappings between the models on different abstraction layers and model transformations to derive an implementation from a configuration.

In addition, latest research shows the increasing need for concepts to deal with very large and evolving systems. Product lines can no longer rely on an immutable scope but need to be considered as evolving systems which can span over organizational boundaries. Thus, there is a need to apply and investigate latest concepts from MDE like model-driven evolution and co-evolution, consistency management, multi-paradigm modelling, etc.

In this workshop we aim to bring together researchers and practitioners to foster the exchange of concepts and ideas between them to address these challenges.

This is a discussion oriented workshop that will emphasise an in depth multi-disciplinary discussions on the latest research and new experimental approaches aimed at addressing the current gaps in knowledge in the field of movement analysis. The topics considered in scope for this workshop include, but are not limited to:

Tracking and Sensing Issues
- Experiences in providing the location of mobile objects: Is the future really about real-time processing? Do we really need massive data collection?
- Experiences with privacy as a concern when collecting the data sets: How to unravel trust and confidence problems, as well as security and privacy rights?

Methodological Issues
- Experiences in analysing tracking loggings: Can we really understand implicit and explicit rules underlying movement behaviour based on trajectory patterns?
- Experiences in developing and applying privacy preserving data mining, space-time reasoning, and visualisation techniques: What have been the advantages and limitations?

Technology Issues
- Experience with mobile technologies: How can we make better use of existing mobile technologies? Are there gaps? Is there a need for new technologies?

The workshop will be a one-day event and it will include two sessions:

- an initial session in the morning that will be devoted to short-presentations on of the identified issues. The aim is to address a specific outstanding key question in the field. Each speaker will be asked to include a final slide in their presentation summarising, in their opinion, the key outstanding questions in their specific area or interest, after which the session chair will open the floor for discussion.
