Thomas Brox Røst

Me
Hi, my name is Thomas Brox Røst. I am currently doing a PhD at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. I work on finding ways of reducing information overload in general practice patient records through automated knowledge extraction from the written narrative in patient histories. You can find me at the Department of Computer and Information Science or at the Norwegian EHR Research Centre.

In my spare time I develop Eventseer.net.

Welcome to the new Eventseer.net!

I hope you like what you have seen so far. This is just a little something I wrote to demonstrate the purpose of the whiteboard.

My research interests are mainly focused around health care, natural language processing, and data mining, so whenever I write something on these topics, hyperlinks to the relevant topic pages will be added. (Check out the links in the previous sentence; they were automatically added when I posted the entry.) The same thing goes for people and organizations.

Moreover, all Eventseer users that are tracking whichever topics, people or organizations you are writing about will receive a notification on their tracker, telling them about this entry. This makes it easy to create a very targeted stream of information that helps you to both inform and stay informed.

Of course, a topic like data mining (and not to mention computer science) is very general and might create a lot of traffic. If you are interested in something more specific then search for it. If you can't find it then you can add it yourself. And do remember to invite people: The more people who use and contribute to Eventseer, the better it gets!
